Purpose-led fashion and lifestyle brand among the first apparel retailers in Canada to offer carbon neutral, same-day and next-day deliveries.
(MONTREAL, September 28, 2022) Frank And Oak, a Montreal-based sustainable fashion brand, and GoBolt, a Toronto-based technology company building the first sustainable and vertically integrated supply chain network, today announced they have formed a strategic partnership to offer carbon-neutral deliveries, beginning with Canadian shoppers. In the initial phase, Frank And Oak’s customers in major markets will have their packages delivered by GoBolt’s electric vehicles (EV) or, when an EV is not possible, carbon offsets will be calculated and purchased.
“At the core of our philosophy at Frank And Oak and Unified Commerce Group is a commitment to sustainability, innovation, and superior customer experience,” said Dustin Jones, Chief Executive Officer of Frank And Oak. “Once we met Mark Ang and his team at GoBolt, we knew we had found a partner with shared values and with whom we can innovate together. Like Frank And Oak, GoBolt is a purpose-driven Canadian company with global potential, and we look forward to working together to inspire our industry, to delight our customers while having a positive impact on the planet.”
The move to a warehousing network positioned closer to customers to reduce travel distance, and a carbon-neutral delivery solution aligns with Frank And Oak’s environmental commitments. It also coincides with the company’s long-term objectives including removing virgin plastic from its supply chain, implementing more carbon offset programs, and continuing to practice a zero-waste policy among their teams and in their facilities.
“Responsible leadership calls for considering how the decisions we make today will impact the environment tomorrow,” said Mark Ang, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of GoBolt. “Frank And Oak is an incredible brand as sustainability is not just an afterthought, it’s at the core of how they operate and create products. With this partnership, we can do even more to demonstrate that sustainability and an intelligent logistics system can be a competitive advantage and beneficial to the environment at the same time.”
Frank And Oak was founded in Montreal in 2012 with a mission to create an apparel brand that would speak to a new generation of creatives and entrepreneurs. The company has since blossomed into one of Canada’s leading lifestyle brands and omni retailers, becoming a Certified B Corp in 2019 for meeting the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. This partnership also marks the beginning of a joint relationship with Unified Commerce Group (UCG), the parent company of Frank And Oak, and GoBolt. UCG is building a portfolio of purpose-driven Canadian and American apparel brands, equipping them with resources in customer data, technology, and partnerships, to scale for the next generation of omnichannel retail. Building out a carbon neutral logistics solution is key to this vision.
Founded in Toronto in 2017, GoBolt has made a name for itself as one of the most innovative fulfillment and last-mile delivery providers in Canada and the United States. Today, GoBolt offers a simplified, customer-centric, and sustainable approach to logistics – with a warehouse network that spans 10 key markets, with more expected in 2023. By building a fully electric fleet, implementing advanced technology for smarter, more efficient delivery routes, and optimizing operations for a circular supply chain, GoBolt will be going beyond carbon neutral deliveries with its mandate to offer carbon negative deliveries by the end of 2023.
This ambitious goal is another point of alignment for Frank And Oak and GoBolt. The companies are not just committed to reducing environmental harm but rather on leaving the planet better than they found it.
